Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
i 7204 Lake Drive
C ! T Y"' p Lino Lakes, MN 55014
N KE (651) 780-1885 Fax (651) 784-7227
July 24, 1998
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, Parks Lead Worker
SUBJECT: July Park Maintenance Update
As we are all aware another major storm came rumbling through on Friday, June 26`h. As a
result, maintenance staff have been kept busy with storm cleanup both in the parks and along city
boulevards. Thankfully, the cleanup has been completed (on July 15) and we have been able to
get back to our usual activities.
r July maintenance highlights include the following:
• Re-roofing of Sunrise Park warming house and garage. (completed July 2e) (storm
damage)
• Backstop repair at Sunrise#3 and Rice Lake#1 (storm damage)
• Site planning and prep for playgrounds to be installed at Birch and Shenandoah Parks.
• 1999 budget requests for maintenance supplies, small tools, and capital equipment
• Weekly garbage pickup, mowing, and weed whipping of all parks and grounds
• Daily athletic field prep
• Irrigation system repair at Centennial Middle School
• Playground inspections and repairs
• Weed whipping boardwalk areas
• Aeration and fertilization of athletic fields
• Provided Right-to-Know training for seasonal and full time maintenance staff
• Removal of BMX track in the woods at South Reshanau Lake Estates Park
For your information, we have received a number of very positive comments regarding the
maintenance of our athletic fields and parks.
August is shaping up to be even busier than July with the installation of two (2) new
playgrounds. (Birch and Shenandoah) Hopefully we have seen the last of our summer storms.
sw/parkbrd/July Maintenance Update.doc
