MINUTES MAY 17, 1998 <br /> Rick DeGardner, Parks Director noted that Sunrise Park remains <br /> closed. A tree fell onto Shelter 2 , and there is downed fencing. <br /> Downed trees have also been located at Rice 'Lake Elementary and <br /> Country Lakes Park. <br /> Marty Asleson, Forestry, noted that the crew who assisted with <br /> the St . Peter disaster is now assisting us . Kieger Enterprises <br /> has 6 crews in place . The priority remains to be the removal of <br /> boulevard trees, trees at Sunrise Park and any trees hanging on <br /> public property. If NSP has not secured the area, crews will not <br /> go into the area. Staff is currently waiting for the clearance <br /> from NSP to enter into the Baldwin Lake Road area. <br /> Dave Ahrens, Public Works Director, noted that the power was <br /> restored to some areas at 8 : 00 pm last evening and the Lift <br /> Stations are working. Water and sewer is working fine . Six <br /> hydrants have been equipped with faucets for residents on well <br /> and septic systems who have no electricity. <br /> Tom DeWolfe, Street Superintendent noted the City street crew is <br /> working with the clam trucks from Kieger. The County is sending <br /> one loader today. There is still plenty of space for brush and <br /> trees at the site behind City Hall . <br /> Milo Bennett, Fire, stated he has no crews out today. Flyers <br /> were distributed yesterday. <br /> Councilmember Dahl stated there is no power in the W. Holly and <br /> Holly Court area. She is willing to distribute flyers to this <br /> area. <br /> The Salvation Army representative will set up a canteen for all <br /> workers . It was agreed to have them set up their trailer in the <br /> parking lot of Centennial Middle School . <br /> It was noted that the Red Cross missed some homes when conducting <br /> their assessment . There was damaged sustained at the SeaPlane <br /> Base and along Woodridge in the Southwest part of the City. <br /> ONGOING ACTIVITIES : <br /> NSP states that 95% of power should be restored to residents by <br /> Tuesday. <br /> Red Cross will assess additional areas of damage . <br /> Security and road clearance continues . <br /> -2- <br />
