l
Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department
7204 Lake Drive
C I T Y" Z p F Lino Lakes, MN 55014
N KE (612) 780-1885 Fax (612) 784-7227
LIJune 25, 1998
TO: Park Board Members
FROM: Mike Hoffman, Lead Worker
SUBJECT: June Maintenance Update
Things have almost returned to normal from the storm of May 15tb
Our seasonal crew has done a good job keeping our park areas mowed on a weekly basis.
Currently, we mow 17 parks, the Police and Fire buildings, City Hall, city water towers and well
houses (4), and a number of boulevard and trail segments. This amounts to approximately 100-
125 acres of mowing which we try to complete weekly. No easy task especially if we get rained
out for a day or two.
Softball and Little League is in full gear and with it comes athletic field preparation on a daily
basis. Currently we are averaging six ballfields that must be fully prepped on a daily basis. This
consists of repairing dig outs in batters boxes, pitching rubbers, and base areas, dragging infields,
chalking base lines and batters boxes, dropping off game balls and picking up garbage around
players benches and bleachers. In addition there are six other fields that we try to drag daily or
every other day.
Additional projects for June included completion of the playground at Sunrise Park, (the
surrounding area will be seeded in mid to late August), storm cleanup, planting trees around new
playgrounds to replace trees that were lost in the storm, removal of damaged roof to shelter#2 at
Sunrise Park, obtaining estimates for roof repair to Sunrise warming house, and fertilizing all our
irrigated turf areas.
Sunset Oaks Park was vandalized over the June 20t'-21"weekend. Graffiti was placed on the
play structure, picnic table and outhouse. This equipment has been cleaned and is back to its
original condition.
 sw/parkbrd/June Maintenance Update.doc
