.t .
COUNCIL MINUTES April 27, 1998
Mr. Ahrens explained the existing corrugated metal culvert under West Shadow Lake
Drive is deteriorating and causing problems with the road surface. The City has made
several repairs of the road surface. A decision was made to replace the culvert with a
concrete arch pipe.
The West Shadow Lake Drive culvert replacement project is scheduled as follows:
Advertise to Receive Bids April 28, 1998
Receive Bids May 20, 1998
Award Contract May 26, 1998
Preconstruction Meeting June 1, 1998
Construction Begins June 3, 1998
Estimated Construction Completion June 30, 1998
Mr. Ahrens added that the City will pay for the project using Surface Water Management
Funds.
Staff recommends that Resolution No. 98 - 60 be adopted.
Mr. Ahrens noted that the City would be giving advance notice to every resident in the
affected area about the project.
Council Member Neal stated that the area of the repairs could be very dangerous at night. ..
Mr. Ahrens indicated flashers would warn people.
Council Member Neal asked about the possibility of rain interrupting the repairs. Mr.
Ahrens indicated they hoped to have the street opened up for public use by 6:00 p.m. the
same day.
Council Member Bergeson asked for an estimate on the cost of the project. Mr. Ahrens
guessed the repairs to cost approximately $25,000 - $50,000.
Acting Mayor Lyden asked how Staff would make the public aware of the construction.
Mr. Ahrens stated the public would be informed on two (2) separate occasions. The first
being right after the construction meeting with the contractor. The second notice would
be a couple days before construction started.
Council Member Bergeson asked how the project would affect the school buses, as they
use the street as a turnaround. Mr. Ahrens explained they have not yet addressed that
issue. It is possible the construction will not start until after the school year is completed.
Council Member Neal moved to adopt Resolution No. 98 - 60, as presented. Council
Member Dahl seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 98 - 60 can be found at the end of these minutes.
12
