Motion carried unanimously. <br /> Resolution No. 98 - 54 can be found at the end of these minutes <br /> OLD BUSINESS -None <br /> COMMUNITY CALENDAR FOR APRIL 27 - MAY 11, 1998 <br /> Park Board Meeting, Monday, May 4, 1998, 6:30 p.m. <br /> Council Work Session,Wednesday, May 6, 1998, 6:30 p.m. <br /> Economic Development Advisory Committee, Thursday, May 7, 1998, 7:00 a.m. <br /> Arbor Day, Friday May 8, 1998, 2:00 p.m., Lino Elementary School <br /> Focus Committee, Environmental Management Plan, Thursday, May 14, 1998, 6:30 <br /> p.m. (tentative) <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Consideration of a Request to Renew Gambling License for Centennial Fire District, <br /> Marilyn Anderson - Ms. Anderson explained that a gambling license was issued to the <br /> Centennial Fire Relief Association to conduct lawful gambling at Miller's on Main <br /> beginning June 1, 1995, and they have requested that their gambling license be renewed. <br /> The Centennial Fire Relief Association has been conducting lawful gambling in the City <br /> since the lawful gambling laws were enacted. <br /> Since the Centennial Fire District serves three (3) communities (Lino Lakes, Centerville, <br /> Circle Pines), proceeds from their gambling activities support many activities in all three <br /> (3) communities. Specifically, during the past year, the Centennial Fire Relief <br /> Association gambling proceeds have supported the school patrol programs and the drug <br /> free programs at all three (3) schools located in Lino Lakes, several Boy Scout Troops, <br /> the annual Safety Camp, Friends of the Parks Foundation, senior high school parties at <br /> both Centennial and Forest Lake High School and several residents in need. <br /> Ms. Anderson pointed out that all proceeds from lawful gambling conducted by the <br /> Centennial Fire Relief Association are returned to the community.
