ti
s
this department this year were clean-up and reforestation after the tornado and
storm, and initiating the Environmental Inventory and Management Plan.
The idea for our environmental plan, department and board was the brainchild of
the 2020 Vision Environmental group. The environmental plan will be the
underpinning of our entire preservation development process. It identifies a
greenway through the city which will preserve open space that is environmentally
precious to our community. This greenway provides buffers and accesses to the
Anoka County Park System. This plan ensures appropriate ecological input into
our city's decision making process. This plan is an essential part of the
Comprehensive Plan that has been submitted to the Metropolitan Council. We
expect to receive the first draft of our environmental plan this week. There will be
a process of public review and comment before it is brought to council in early
summer.
PUBLIC SAFETY- Director, Dave Pecchia
Fire, Building Inspections, Police
Fire services are provided by the Centennial Fire Department, Chief Milo Bennett,
presiding. Lino Lakes' fire calls have increased 30% since 1994, and are made up
of 55% medical and 45% fire.
Chief Bennett has indicated that he is able to continue to operate into next year at
the same expenditure per household rate, and expects to maintain the same service
and staffing levels to provide this service.
13
