City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> April 5, 1999 <br /> Rick stated play structure installation has been scheduled for <br /> Saturday, May 22 , 1999, for Marshan Park and Saturday, June 19, <br /> 1999, for Arena Acres Park. Volunteers are needed to help with <br /> the installation. <br /> Paul asked how the snowplowing of trails worked out this winter. <br /> Rick advised he received mostly positive comments about the trail <br /> plowing. He stated more turf was damaged than anticipated. He <br /> stated he believes the Parks Department will continue to plow the <br /> trails next year. He noted it takes 4-5 hours to complete the <br /> trail plowing. <br /> Jeff asked about play structure damage that occurred over the <br /> winter. Rick advised damage was done due to delivery at Lino <br /> Park. Repair work is being pursued with the vendor. The paint <br /> has peeled off of the track ride at Rice Lake Estates Park. The <br /> vendor has agreed to fix it . <br /> OLD BUSINESS• <br /> No Skateboard Park at Middle School - Rick stated the school <br /> district has decided not to permit the City to place ramps in the <br /> middle school parking lot . The school district' s primary concern <br /> dealt with the fact that the school district prohibits <br /> skateboarding on school grounds . Another concern was potential <br /> vandalism that could occur around the middle school grounds and <br /> building. <br /> Chair Lindy stated he spoke to Mulner Blacktop and they are <br /> expected to give the Parks Department an estimate to pave an <br /> outdoor skating rink. Rick stated it is a good idea to get an <br /> estimate for future reference. <br /> Chair Lindy asked that the estimate be put together for the May, <br /> 1999, meeting. <br /> Paul asked that Rick also determine a space requirement for <br /> placing the wheels ramp in the skating rink at City Hall Park. <br /> Review Park Dedication Fund Balance - Rick referred to an updated <br /> park dedication fund summary. Approximately $14 , 000 was found to <br /> have been miscoded from 1995 - 1997 . The updated summary <br /> reflects this correction. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Paul asked that the park dollars coming from residential, <br /> commercial , and industrial development be reviewed. He suggested <br /> the Park Board review how other cities obtain park money. <br /> 5 <br />
