COUNCIL MINUTES JANUARY 11, 1999 <br /> ^ Ms. Maggie Novak,North Anoka Meals on Wheels,thanked the Council for their support in the <br /> past. She explained the organization serves meals to seniors and disabled citizens. She asked <br /> Council for their support again this year. <br /> Ms. Phyllis Linder, Senior Outreach Program, stated the organization links seniors and the <br /> disabled to programs and services that enable them to live in their homes independently. Last <br /> year the program served 38 clients which resulted to 45 additional follow up visits and 108 <br /> referrals. <br /> Ms. Maryanne Reich, ARC of Anoka&Ramsey County, stated they serve developmentally <br /> disabled adults and children in the community. Funds are used for core services to help people <br /> find services. They also offer a library for adaptive equipment and toys for growth and <br /> development. Residents are able to"check"out the equipment for us e. Thirty people in <br /> the community used this service last year. <br /> Ms. Julie Brown, Rise, stated Rise is a vocational rehabilitati ac' thousand people <br /> were serviced last year and they are expecting a 10-15% i , s y ` They offer job <br /> training,placement, and transportation to people with disa tie <br /> Ms. Sarah Henfling, Community Emergency Ass' e , stated their mission is to <br /> combat homelessness and hunger. They offer ce fami ies on an emergency basis <br /> including a mentoring program,transportation gram othing closet, and food shelf. The <br /> program served 50-60 residents last year' ough November 30, 1998. <br /> Council Member Dahl moved to cl aring at 6:55 p.m. Council Member Neal <br /> seconded the motion. Motion c usly. <br /> Council Member Lyden o n the public hearing at 6:56 p.m. Council Member Dahl <br /> seconded the motion. on 'e ' ously. <br /> Mr. Barney Ingle ers ounce Center, stated this program serves men going through a <br /> divorce and some been married. Their mission is to work with the father of <br /> children to accommo a peaceful, co-parenting existence. They offer parenting classes, anger <br /> classes, law clinics, an hild support enforcement. The program served 50 residents from Lino <br /> Lakes last year. <br /> Council Member Bergeson moved to close the public hearing at 7:02 p.m. Council Member <br /> Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT REPORT,DAN TESCH <br /> Consideration of Depositories for 1999 -Each year the City is required to designate legal <br /> ^ depositories. Mr. Tesch briefly reviewed the list of depositories and explained the Lino Lakes <br /> State Bank and the League's 4M Fund are new to the City's list. <br /> 3 <br />
