There were no new plats reviewed in 1998 . The Parks
budget has dried up and alternative funding for park property is
needed. He stated this issue needs to be discussed again with
the City Council .
Paul stated that very little park funding is obtained from
Commercial/Industrial development in relation to residential
development . He suggested that the funding obtained for parks
from Commercial/Industrial development be looked at and reviewed.
Commercial/Industrial development is good for the school system
and tax base. It should be good for the parks also. He said the
policy needs to be looked at and money for the parks should be
set aside.
Chair Lindy added that looking at the big picture, park funding
needs to come from the General Fund. He stated this issue needs
to be reviewed because there is really no new source of funding
for parks at this time .
4
