PARK BOARD MINUTES s� NOVEMBER 14, 1991 this time. Mr. Eibensteiner thanked the board for giving him some direction in the trail requirements matter. He will be back with a proposal as his development proceeds. OLD BUSINESS• Recreation Update - Marty Asleson referred the board to the 1991 Recreation Program Recreation Report, it shows the number of participants in the rec programs last summer and fall, the expenses involved, and the income generated from those programs. He noted that the income from the open softball leagues off -set the expense of the other programsti Marty reports that Barry Bernstein, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor will try to expand the open softball program next summer, as it was so successful, especially for a first year program. He expects to have an additional ball field available for such a program next summer. Mr. Asleson explained that the Lino Lakes VFW needed a written verification from us to show to the State Gambling Board where proceeds are being spent that they have donated. Hence the accompanying copy of a letter sent to Mr. Bohjanen of the VFW. Marty Asleson says that he wants to be able to see where the donated monies actually go, so he has started tracking them. He also reported that the VFW Ladies Auxillary pledged $1000.00 for our open playground program. Ken Johnson says he feels strongly that there should be a plan targeted for the monies such as a project or improvements, etc. so that when we contact various organizations seeking funds, we have a definite use in mind. Marty Asleson noted that he would like to use the donated gambling dollars from the VFW for electricity needs at Country Lakes Park for the skating rink and parking lot, and also try to meet the electricity needs at Lino Park. He commented on how he was surprised to find out how expensive it is to run electric service lines in to a building. Bill Nissen suggested that if there was electricity coming off W. Shadow Lake Drive for a sign, perhaps there could be a tie into electricty from here at a lesser cost. Marty mentioned that we will also have to address the issue of a public phone at Country Lakes Park if we are going to have skating or any open programs here. Marty Asleson talked about Parks and Recreation Departments in other cities, and commented on how the present state of the economy has caused some of them to close, the City of Burnsville Parks and Recreation Department for example.
