r- PARK BOARD MINUTES
OCTOBER 7, 1991
Ken Johnson commented that if we spend $20,000.00 and the study
comes back a wash, then we've wasted $20,000.00.
George Lindy asked if there is someone available to talk to who has
done this recently. Don Volk will look into it for the next
meeting. John Baumann asked if there was any way we could get an
approximate cost. Marty Asleson said he will make a call to the NGF
and ask, he also will ask if we will know how feasible the project
is before we spend all of the money for the study.
George Lindy asked staff to contact the NGF feasibility study
people and ask about a "bale out" point. He also asked staff to
present our thoughts to the council on sharing the cost of the
study.
Marty Asleson will have a report by the next Park Board meeting,
and Don Volk will attempt to get a speaker with recent experience
regarding this project for the next meeting also.
Comprehensive Park Plan Study Update - Marty Asleson reports that
this committee is meeting regularly again. The golf course issue
keeps coming up. They have discussed goals and objectives, the
parks and recreation structure, and have identified park areas.
Marty feels this is a real productive group. He says that Jeff
Schoenbauer thinks it's time to invite the entire Park Board to sit
in on the meetings now. Mr. Schoenbauer has presented an over all
scheme plan, and will go out with staff and look over the land use
and development plans.
Marty Asleson notes that the meetings are on the 1st and 3rd
Wednesdays of each month at 6:30 PM, if anyone is interested in
attending, let him know.
John Baumann, a member of the Comprehensive Park Plan Study
Committee added that long range plans call for two athletic
complexes, that's why we need to look at alternative revenue
sources. Marty Asleson commented that the plan is for up to 20
years from now, it includes activities for adults, etc.
Ken Johnson, also a member of the Comp Park Plan Study group
pointed out that it is nice to see that Park Board's previous site
selections are fitting in with the overall scheme, but still need
more confidence with where we go in the future when areas are
developed. Marty commented that Jeff Schoenbauer suggested inviting
developers to the meetings.
,.1 Marty Asleson says that the idea of an Adopt -A -Park program has
been talked about at the meetings, and also there was an article in
9
