 PARR BOARD MINUTES
OCTOBER 7, 1991
the Minnesota Recreation and Parks Association magazine regarding
this program. Mona Allen a member of the committee is looking into
this project.
Marty Asleson commented that this is a very good committee, we are
fortunate to have these people, they're a good sharing group, each
with their own field of expertise that can bring the issues into
focus. He feels the Park Board has certainly gotten their money's
worth.
Minor Subdivision Park Dedication Approval Procedure - Don Volk
reported back to the Park Board concerning the matter of an
Application for Consideration of a Minor Subdivision from Steve
Bailey of 1826 Birch St. in the August 14, 1991 Design Review Board
meeting. This subdivision was approved, Mr. Bailey was asked to pay
a Park Dedication fee of $400.00 for each new lot, but
consideration of the Park Dedication was never brought before the
Park Board. At the last Park Board meeting Ken Johnson asked why.
Don Volk reports that he discussed this matter with the City
Administrator, and has been assured that in the future all minor
subdivision park dedication requirements will be brought in front
of the Park Board for consideration. We will be getting $400.00 per
lot for Park Dedication for this minor subdivision as previously
stated.
Shade Tree Board - Marty Asleson reported that the Anoka County
Shade Tree Board has purchased a Vibratory Plow to help control oak
wilt within the county. The City of Lino Lakes will be the first
City to use it. Marty commented that the county tree committee is
a good group of people to work with. After working together for
three years, he feels that they have accomplished something.
Mr. Asleson explained that the city forestry department is looking
at re -forestation for next Spring. He says that they have to look
at hazardous trees that exist on our boulevards such as
cottonwoods. Some are rotted out and are in need of trimming. They
have looked at the use of a bucket truck. Ken Johnson asked what
criteria is used for re -forestation. Marty explained that the idea
is to create a uniform, symmetrical form and tree scape, staying
away from utilities. Ken Johnson wondered how one development is
selected over another. Marty explained that work would be done
mostly in the new developments using the escrowed developer's
dollars. Don Volk pointed out that eventually there will be a need
to use general fund dollars to do some of the older developments.
Marty says he would like to meet with the neighbors to talk to them
about their trees.
John Baumann asked about the boulevard planting, he wondered if
7
