MEMORANDUM
TO: All Park Board Members
FROM: Marty Asleson
DATE: July 31, 1991
SUBJECT: Wenzel Development Agenda Item
The Wenzel Farms Development final plat has been approved. One
contingency that was placed on the release of the plat was that the
developer widen the erroneously platted 10' wide linear park trails
to 15' wide. Another issue that developed at the concept stage was
that a 1 acre or less mini park would be provided in a central
location in the development, and an access to Sunrise Park be
provided for an activity area. This concept falls within our
standards and guidelines that have been used by the Metropolitan
Council and National Recreation Parks associations.
The trail was to traverse through the drainage easement on the
south side of the development going west. Another idea that has
recently surfaced is to attempt to have the utility easement going
through into the development from Rice Lake, changed to
utility/park easement on the plat, This would be a much more cost
effective method to get people through. This would also be
contingent upon contacting the abutting property owners. This is a
new idea, however,we do need to look at this issue now. There are
houses going up.
