1-1\ Park Board Meeting
May 6, 1991
OTHER NEW BUSINESS:
Marty Asleson reported that the Lino Lakes Shade Tree Ordinance is
in affect now. This means that any time someone wants to build a
house in the woods, they first have to submit a plan showing where
they will be putting the house in relation to the trees being
moved, etc., and get approval from the City. Hopefully, by
enforcing this Ordinance, the city will have a better chance to
control the spread of tree diseases.
Marty also reported on the newly formed Anoka County Tree Board.
Mr. Art Hawkins and Mr. Bob Williams from Lino Lakes are on the
board. The purpose of the board is to try to network urban forestry
and control oak wilt in Anoka County. An added benefit of the board
would be assistance both technically and financially.
John Baumann reported on Earth/Arbor Day celebration held on April
27th. About 500 people turned out to offer their services to clean
up the roadsides in the city, they collected approximately 4 - 4
1/2 ton of debris, opposed to 9 ton last year. John felt that this
,- was probably because last year was the first time. A Tree City
Award Ceremony was held at City Hall, and 300 trees were given
away. Marty Asleson commented that John Baumann worked long and
hard to make this project a success. John was responsible for
getting all the food and he did a fantastic job.
Ray Johnson pointed out the minutes from the April 10 Design Review
Board meeting, he noticed a request for consideration of a minor
subdivision for Ken & Gail Judd. Ray made reference to the action
taken where there is no park dedication fee due, and wondered why.
Marty Asleson said he will check in to it.
There was no other new business.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:24 PM.
5
