-4-
PARK BOARD MEETING
January 7, 1991
The regular January meeting of the Lino Lakes Park Board was
called to order at 7:00 PM on Monday January 7, 1991 at Lino
Lakes City Hall by chairman Ray Johnson. Board members in
attendance were Candy Toffoli, Bob Williams, John Baumann,
Ray Johnson, Ken Johnson, Bill Nissen and George Lindy. Staff
in attendance were Don Volk, Director of Public Works, Marty
Asleson, Superintendent of Parks, Rec and Forestry, and
Carole Kohler, Parks Secretary.
Consideration of Minutes - There were no additions or
corrections to the December 5, 1990 meeting. The minutes were
approved as mailed.
Open Mike - Andy Neal, Councilman appeared under open mike
w_ith Mrs. Hill, a resident in the Sunrise Park neighborhood
concerning a problem her children seem to be having at the
Sunrise Park skating rink lately. It seems that her children
have been chased off of the pleasure rinks by other children
who say they are scheduled for ice time. Marty and Don both
addressed Mrs Hill. She was informed that there are ice time
schedules now posted at the warming houses and that there
'—N should be no priorities to anyone on non scheduled ice time.
Also, that if a problem should arise at the rink, and it
can't be handled, to call the police dispatcher and in turn
they will reach either Don or Mart. Another concern of Mrs.
Hill and Mr. Neal was that they think that the lights at the
rink are on all night. Marty explained that the maintenance
people start working at 4:00 AM to flood the rinks, and also
the rinks are maintained and cleared at night after the rinks
are closed, so it may appear that the lights are on longer
than needed. However, he will look into the matter and see
that the lights are not left on when they are not needed.
Old Business:
A. Wenzel Farms Property - Kirk Corson of Hokanson
Development returned with his new park dedication
concept for the Wenzel Farm Development. His new plan
showed .9 acres of trail winding through the proposed
area where the townhouses will be , going to the east
and south down and around the proposed dedicated park
area that sits at the southwest corner of the plat.
This area would be 2.6 acres. Mr. Corson also showed
photos of the proposed park land. ( The Wenzel Farms
Property development will be a three phase
development.) Ray Johnson stated that he was not
convinced that this is the best area for a park as it
seems to be so far away from the population density
,• (approximately 1/3 to 1/2 mile) from the townhouses,
PAGE 1
