Elm Street.) The rest of the board agreed. They all
expressed a desire to see a park more centrally
located in the development. All the board members
also agreed that the trail system should stay as was
proposed. They feel a major consideration should be
an area for a tot lot or play area , as opposed to
taking the cash instead of park land dedication as
was also suggested during this discussion. Marty
suggested that this area should be approximately (1)
acre. Ray Johnson called for a proposal from the
board. George Lindy proposed that Mr. Corson try to
incorporate the general area of lots 17-18-19 and 20
of block 1, and possibly some of the green area by
the townhomes into a park area. Mr. Corson
explained that they will do their best to satisfy the
desires of the board, and return with a new plan.
B. Lakecrest Development - Jeff Joyer and Ron Mikolai
who represent the sellers of the proposed Lakecrest
Development appeared and informed the board that
there is also a third parcel of property available
for sale now. That being Outlot K, or the 7.46 acre
parcel directly west of outlots H & J currently being
considered. Also in attendance were approximately 35
residents of the area. This group was represented by
Mr. Ben Rosene and Mr.Paul Brand, both reside on E.
Shadow Lake Drive. They presented a petition to the
park board. It was signed by over 200 residents from
180 homes in the area. They state that there are
presently 183 children of approximate pre school age.
The petition was in support of the purchase of the
available park land, and several people pledged a
dollar figure to contribute to equipment, etc. Those
in attendance voiced the opinion that they would
prefer to see a smaller, less noisy park, geared more
toward the younger people who wouldn't need ice rinks
or ball fields, etc. Ben Benson, also a resident of
E. Shadow Lake Drive who was in attendance suggested
that Ray Johnson explain exactly what the procedure
is before a park is developed. Ray did so, and also
explained that the biggest issue with the purchase of
park property at this time is money. Pointing out
recent budget cut backs. George Lindy explained that
the park board has been searching for a large piece
of land in the southern portion of the City, but the
park board is working with a very limited budget.
Paul Brand suggested that money shouldn't be the only
point of interest. That the purchase of the property
now would be a positive step to prevent a potential
accident that could happen when kids try to cross the
very busy Birch Street." Let's fix our short comings
now -this has to be corrected soon." Ray Johnson
asked those in attendance what direction they would
.✓ like the board to take. All agreed that they "just
PAGE 2
