ka <br />PARK BOARD MEETING <br />December 5, 1990 <br />The December meeting of the Lino Lakes Park Board was called <br />to order by Chairman Ray Johnson at 7:00 PM at Lino Lakes <br />City Hall. Members in attendance were Bob Williams, John <br />Baumann, Ray Johnson and Ken Johnson. Members absent were <br />Candi Toffoli, Bill Nissen and George Lindy. Staff in <br />attendance were Don Volk, Director of Public Works, Marty <br />Asleson, Superintendent of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, <br />and Carole Kohler, Parks Secretary. <br />Consideration of Minutes - There were no additions or' <br />corrections to the Minutes of the November 13, 1990 meeting. <br />The minutes were approved as mailed. <br />Open Mike - No one appeared under open mike. <br />Old Business: <br />1. Birch Park - Marty Asleson noted that invitations to <br />attend this meeting were sent to neighbors of the Birch Park <br />area asking them to for their input in the matter of the park <br />design and progress, etc. Several area residents of the Birch <br />Park area were in attendance. Marty displayed a map of Birch <br />Park and explained the layout. He also explained the <br />irrigation system and stubs for future expansion. Also in <br />attendance was Brian Flanagan of Flanagan Industries, a <br />playground equipment firm. He explained that he would <br />recommend mostly plastic modular equipment for the park, and <br />showed how colors of plastic components for the modular <br />system add to the attractiveness of the park. Marty asked if <br />this equipment was handicap accessible, Mr. Flanagan <br />explained that it was not planned that way, but being that it <br />was a modular system, it could possibly be done. Mr. Flanagan <br />also added that this playground equipment is designed for all <br />ages including pre-schoolers. When Mr. Flanagan ended his <br />presentation,. Marty asked for input from the neighbors., One <br />concern was leaving the hockey rink open for pleasure <br />skaters. Ray Johnson explained that the rink is too small for <br />hockey games because it is not regulation size. Marty added <br />that any hockey practice on that rink now is not scheduled. <br />one neighborhood resident asked about the timing for <br />finishing up the park. Ray Johnson explained that the <br />proposed budget is being prepared now, and that it looks like <br />money is going to be tight, the park board has used up all <br />their funds so completion could be a little slow.
