s
CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1995
present and future field usage. He hopes to have this
information for the next meeting.
Barry said everyone should have gotten the June brochure. He
hoped the members liked the layout. He said if anyone had any
questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact Barry.
Joe said if programs continue to fill, maybe the user fee should
be increased. George asked how we compare to other communities.
Barry said we are average. Barry said he would rather have full
classes at a moderate fee than half full classes at a higher fee.
ADA UPDATE: Marty says that he has obtained several resolutions
or letters of support to form an ADA Consortium from surrounding
communities. He is now going to go before the City Council for
approval. He said there is approximately $3500 left in the CDBG
money and he hopes he will be able to hire an ADA Coordinator to
pull this consortium together. Marty says Anoka County
Commissioner Margaret Langfeld is supportive of this effort.
MINOR SUBDIVISION DEDICATION SUMMARY: Marty asked the board
members to refer to the memorandum from Mary Kay Wyland (memo
dated June 1, 1995 is included in minute book) concerning the
past collections for minor subdivisions since September, 1994 -
May, 1995 . He said the question of collection of commercial fees
needs to be resolved at the City Council level. The issue is
that of the city trying to attract commercial growth and the park
dedication acting as a deterring factor to this focus. New
development in the Apollo Business Park is tax increment
financed, as an attraction for business.
Since we do have this requirement in ordinance, it needs to be
resolved by the City Council, perhaps waiving this requirement
for the present time.
Amy asked about tax increment financing. She said if they
received TIF did it automatically release them from their
dedication responsibility. Marty said no they are not excluded.
EARTH DAY: Marty said there were between 700 and 800 volunteers
doing may things from picking up liter to painting park buildings
and planting flowers. He said there was good food, great
speakers, and many exhibits. Anoka County also gave tickets to
the volunteers for a wave pool party on August 11.
ARBOR DAY CEREMONIES: Marty said there were to Arbor Day
Ceremonies this year. One at the Correction Facility at the
Shelter and Day School and one at Lino Elementary School.
9
