CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1995
UPDATES AND OLD BUSINESS
RICE LAKE ESTATES PARK: Marty said he received a call from Jim
Keinath and their attorneys are satisfied that we are close
enough, on their end, to start looking at the agreement that was
written four years ago. Jim said there are a couple of things
that are too broad/general and will want them changed. They
should have it back to us and we will bounce it back and forth
until a suitable agreement is reached. Marty continued by saying
that through his research he has found that we may need to obtain
a permit from the Corp of Engineers to improve the lots. He has
sent a letter to the Corp of Engineers and is waiting an answer
back from them.
FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE: Marty said the Friends are selling
T-Shirts, are going to become actively involved at the
Performance in the Parks events (selling popcorn) , have had a
banner made, and will start working in August or September on the
golf fundraiser for next year. Martha Walmsley has become the
Treasurer and is doing an excellent job. Marty said they are
looking at purchasing plaques to give recognition for different
donations.
Joe wanted mentioned the cost of the T-Shirts. Marty said they
are $15 with $5 dollars of that being tax deductible. With a $25
or more donation you also receive a membership to Friends of the
Park. Joe thought all the Park Board members should purchase a
shirt as part of their commitment to the Friends of the Park.
RECREATION PROGRAMS UPDATE: Barry said the start of the summer
season program registration is going well. He said the youth and
adult programs are going well. He said the nice weather has been
a factor for registrations coming in. Many of the programs are
already filled.
Staff training for the summer programs start the week of June 12 .
He continued by saying Bob and the Beachcomber will be at the
June 18 Performance in the Park.
The playground and traveling playground programs will be starting
June 19 and run through July 27. Barry said he anticipates
between 600 and 900 kids participating in these programs.
Barry said the Park and Recreation Office has noticed an increase
in soccer and ballfield use. He said there has been
approximately 250 soccer and ballfield permits issued this year
so far. He is working on a compilation of figures on past,
8
