CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1995
The June 5, 1995, City of Lino Lakes Park Board meeting was
called to order at 6:30pm.
Roll call was taken, members present were George Lindy, Chair,
Sharon Lane, Pam Taschuk, Ken Johnson, Joe Schmidt and Amy
Donlin. Also present were Marty Asleson, Park, Recreation, and
Forestry Coordinator, Barry Bernstein, Recreation Program
Supervisor, and Sandie Wood, Recording Secretary. Absent was
Betty Piper.
APPROVAL OF MAY 1 & MAY 9, 1995 MINUTES: Sharon Lane made a
motion to approve both sets of minutes, Pam Taschuk seconded the
motion. Minutes were approved with no corrections.
OPEN MIKE: There was no one present to speak under Open Mike.
MASTER PLAN PRESENTATIONS: Marty gave background information the
process of master planning for the three parks. He said the
residents met on May 15 and there had good representation from
each neighborhood. Brauer was present to present the master
plans and take comments on revisions. He continued by saying
that minor revisions were made to these park plans. The
Birchwood/Parkgrove area was surveyed by the neighborhood and
Marty included a copy of the survey in the Park Board packets.
Marty said one subject that has come up is that of funding and
park dedication dollars. Residents from the different
neighborhoods wish to know how much was dedicated, how much was
spent, and the Park Boards policy on spending these dollars in
the areas that the dollars were taken from. A breakout of the
dollars that have been taken from past dedications were included
in the packets. Marty said he has talked to Mary Vaske, Lino
Lakes Finance Director, and requested that she research where
dollars have been spent in the past. He said this will take some
time to collect.
Marty said it would be nice if these parks could be named instead
of calling them by the development name.
BRANDYWOOD PARK:
One thing that were looked at, for this park, was the internal
trail system. The residents thought a looped trail would be nice
for in-line skating in this park. Marty said if expansion was
going to occur in this park it would on the south side of the
park. He said there is enough room to put a small informal
ballfield in this area. There is two boardwalks that are needed
in this park. Jeff has recommended a modification of the
existing boardwalk. He said it would not have to be built up as
1
