CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, APRIL 3, 1995
community.
Jeff said this is a small parcel of property in the middle of the
Pheasant Hills Development. It is surrounded by wetlands on a
number of sides. The plan that he showed the park board is
designed to try and stay within the developer budget of $18, 000 -
$30, 000. The developer would like to budget in the $25, 000 range
which will give them some flexibility when they start to develop
this park.
Jeff talked about the proposed and existing trail system, the
horseshoe pit, grass volleyball area, picnic area, fire ring and
a sizeable play structure. He said much of the area would be
naturalized landscaping around the parameter. The developer
feels there will not be a large number of small children in this
area so they would like to downsize the playground structure and
add a half court hard court area.
Joe had questions about security in this park. Marty said low
intensity lighting may be suggested. Sharon asked if we usually
have lighting in mini parks. Marty said there is no security
lighting in any mini parks. Jeff encouraged the Park Board to
consider making policy on security issues. Amy asked about the
species of trees in this area. Marty responded Ash, Aspen and
Elm. There were also questions on the fire ring in this park.
Amy said the developer should be recognized for what he is doing
in this park not many developers are as generous as he is being.
BRANDYWOOD PARK
Marty asked about the status of Brandywood Park. George said
this park has been put on hold until the base mapping is done.
Jeff said he will be in the area in the next 2 weeks. George
asked Jeff to contact Marty and let him know when he is going to
be in the area so members could meet with him if they were
available.
BASE MAPPING
Marty said in the future base mapping should be considered as
part of the development. He said Park Grove wanted a scaled
basemap in relationship to the houses and elements that can be
moved around within the park.
George said the base maps should be completed in time for the
second meeting. It was important that the first meeting be an
informational meeting and give the residents a change to meet
staff people and Park Board members.
3
