CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1995
Marty said the Friends of the Park have been able to do a lot but
they are looking for more committee members. They are looking
for someone to help keep the books, people to help write grants
and meet with corporation or business people when they come to
town. Jacqueline Farm wants to do a community ball to try and
get the community involved with this group.
He also reported that they had received a $1, 000. 00 grant from
Target Industries to be used for the Performance in the Park
presentations.
George said most of the neighborhood groups are aware of the
Friends of the Park. Marty said that a lot of the neighborhood
groups have been give the Friends grant criteria.
D. Donation VFW Post 6583 : George said there was a memorandum
in the packets pertaining to the donation VFW Post 6583 gave the
City of Lino Lakes. George asked what the $3300.00 was going to
be used for. Marty responded that it was given for for new
playground equipment in parks. George wanted to know how these
funds were kept separate from dedicated funds vs . general fund
^ dollars. Marty said it would have to be earmarked for a park
area. Maybe there could be a three-way match from the Friends of
the Park and a neighborhood group. He also mentioned the
placement of a plaque stating it was donate by a specific group
or groups . George wanted to know what previous donations had
been used for. Marty responded that it had gone into playground
equipment, picnic tables, hockey rinks, and lighting. George
said it would be wise to remember this money is available and to
keep it in mind when working through meetings and needs, and to
remember it could be used for a park(s) if we run short.
However, he said it is too early now to make a recommendation to
where the money should be used.
Sharon wanted to know if a letter of thanks had been sent to the
VFW. Marty said the Police and Park and Recreation Departments
are working on a plaque to be presented at a future City council
meeting.
E. Lighting Information: George said he had seen Marty' s
response to the letter of inquiry in the Quad Newspaper. He said
it was a good response and hopefully it will answer a lot of
questions.
Marty showed a video tape on lighting. Amy asked if this was the
Park and Recreation Department' s video. Marty said no but he
would check to see if we could copy it.
3
