^ CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> PARK BOARD MEETING <br /> MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1995 <br /> Sharon wanted to know if this type of lighting was cheaper <br /> because it was so directed. Amy appreciated Marty showing the <br /> tape and said that lighting is a big issue to her as well as <br /> other people in the community. She continued by saying that low <br /> spillage lighting should be pushed if there is a recreation <br /> complex and if lighting is put in it. There was also discussion <br /> about passing an ordinance pertaining to the type of lighting to <br /> be used in the city. <br /> Pam said Jeanne Kenow should also be kept in mind when discussing <br /> lighting because she has gone through crime prevention through <br /> environmental design and may be advising some commercial groups <br /> that may be building and putting in lighting in the city. <br /> Barry said if you wanted to see this type of lighting a good <br /> place to go is Central Park in Roseville. (Victoria and County <br /> Road C) Barry added that this is a park in a residential area. <br /> F. Recreation Programs: Barry passed out an update of the <br /> current winter activities which showed the number of participants <br /> in the programs. He told the Park Board how the department was <br /> doing with the programs that were running now. <br /> Barry talked about the warminghouses and said a final report <br /> would be done when the warminghouse season ends. He reported <br /> that the numbers are down due to the type of winter we have had <br /> so far. He continued by saying the warminghouses were open 10 <br /> days to 2 weeks later than usual because of the warm weather. <br /> Barry went on to say that the Snack and Skate classes have really <br /> taken off this year. There are about 53 participants this year <br /> where there was only about 30 last year. <br /> Kids Karate had about 70 students in the fall with about 53 in <br /> the winter session. This is a real popular program with kids. <br /> George wanted to know if a running tally was kept at each of the <br /> warminghouses shelters. Barry explained the log books that are <br /> kept at each of the shelters. George wanted to know if there was <br /> much use at the Country Lakes Park rink. Barry responded that <br /> there was more use on the weekends than during the week. <br /> However, Rice Lake Elementary School does use this rink during <br /> the weekdays so parents are learning of this rink through the <br /> kids. Marty said it is the nicest, largest skating area we have. <br /> Barry said it is anticipated that Lino Park will be open next <br /> year with a warminghouse. There has been comments from the <br /> neighborhood regarding the timed lighting. Marty said finishing <br /> 4 <br />
