CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, DECEMBER 5, 1994
culvert work to be done, move a berm and place the trails. He
explained that there was an area of Aspen trees that would be
affected by this project. OSM has developed a grading plan for
this parking lot. Marty reviewed the plan with the Park Board
Members. OSM sent a preliminary engineers estimate along with
the plan. He stated that he a Brian had reviewed these costs and
they felt it could possibly be done at a little cheaper cost.
Brian pointed out a clump of pine trees, on the plan, in case the
members would like to go look at the area. He explained the
parking lot would be placed just north of these trees.
Secondly, the trail on the north side of the open area would not
affect the trees, it would go on the existing trail and would
require very little or no grading. The flat area would require
minor grading to get the drainage as shown on the plan. There
may be slight changes, on the plan, if there was wetlands areas
identified and/or if archeological significant sights found.
There was discussion on the archeological areas of the site.
Marty explained that the Historical Society is in charge of these
areas. George explained that the indian mounds are not that
obvious but if you know what you are looking for you will be able
to see them.
OTHER UPDATEVOLD BUSINESS: There was no other updates or old
business.
NEW BUSINESS: Marty said that the Rice Creek Trail Association
had left several snowmobile maps at the Park Building. They are
asking for a donation for the map. The Police Department has the
new snowmobile ordinance. If anyone has questions about this
ordinance they should talk to the Police Chief Dave Pecchia.
Pam suggested rules be posted at the unsupervised rinks. Marty
said that he and Barry had not heard of any problems, in the past
years, at the unsupervised rinks. He said they could post park
rules signs and see how they work. As an alternative to the kids
using regular hockey pucks at these rinks, the signs may say
sponge pucks or tennis ball use only. The signs may also say no
hockey playing when general skaters are present. Maybe cones
could be used to divide general skating from hockey players.
Barry said he urges residents to contact the Lino Lakes Park and
Recreation Department if there are problems at any rink in the
City.
OTHER NEW BUSINESS: Sharon wanted to know what the procedure was
. for appointing members to the Park Board. She wanted to know if
she would be notified prior to the next meeting. Marty thought
7
