LINO LAKES PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br /> PROGRAM PLANNING FORM <br /> Program: Youth Coach Pitch Baseball Program (7 & 8 year <br /> olds) <br /> Season: Summer Year: 1995 Location: City Hall and Rice <br /> Lake Time (s) : Morning and Evening <br /> Possible Conflicts with facilities? <br /> The park and recreation departments schedules these <br /> facilities and is forced to be very creative in planning <br /> each session. There is a large demand for ballfields by <br /> other local associations as well as our department . The <br /> park and recreation department has worked well with these <br /> organizations in the past and it is anticipated this <br /> relationship will continue in the future. <br /> Program goals & Objectives : <br /> The intention of this program is to be an introduction of <br /> baseball rules, skill development and sportsmanship. This <br /> is often times the first experience in an organized setting <br /> for many of these participants . One of the main goals of <br /> this program is to work with cooperation and building skills <br /> such as taking direction and what good sportsmanship is all <br /> about. This program takes small steps toward teaching these <br /> young people about not only baseball, but preparing them for <br /> future social experiences . This program is set in an <br /> informal, fun and non competitive atmosphere. One challenge <br /> with this program is that some participants are more <br /> educated and advanced in baseball then other participants . <br /> It is up to the coach (s) to adjust to this challenge. <br /> Program Needs and possible impacts : <br /> In dealing with this age group the coaches are essential and <br /> very important part of this program. These young people <br /> absorb more then the 5 & 6 year olds . The coaches must <br /> make practices fun, informative and fast pace. As part of <br /> the baseball experience, this program need to be on a <br /> regular baseball diamond. <br /> Safety: <br /> The park and recreation department takes safety very <br /> seriously. This program uses state of the art equipment to <br /> reduce possible injuries . To secure the proper amount of <br /> supervision parents are asked to join the other coaches and <br /> assist in the operation of practices . This relationship has <br /> worked well with receiving An ample amount of supervision <br /> and parents are working with the young ballplayers . It is <br />
