r <br /> LINO LAKES PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT <br /> PROGRAM PLANNING FORM <br /> Program: Open Playground <br /> Season: Summer Year: 1995 Location: Sunrise, Birch, City <br /> Hall, Lino, Sunset Oaks, Shenandoha and Country Lakes Parks <br /> Time (s) : 10-12 noon & 1-4 : 30pm <br /> Possible Conflicts with facilities? <br /> This program meets during the day and has not interfered <br /> with other programs . At times this program does have to be <br /> careful of equipment from maintenance crews doing repairs or <br /> general park upkeep. <br /> Program goals & Objectives : <br /> This program is intended to be a positive, constructive, <br /> educational and FUN place for elementary school age children <br /> to socialize. Trained leaders will organize games, crafts <br /> and other activities for the participants. This program <br /> provides children an essential part of the growth <br /> process . .Playing! Also, the more contact the park and <br /> recreation departments staff has with the young children in <br /> the community. The reduction of vandalism and other <br /> criminal activity will follow. <br /> Program Needs and possible impacts : <br /> As many of our other programs, this program starts with the <br /> instructors . The park and recreation department is <br /> continually searching for the best staff for this program. <br /> The addition of the playground van to supply a vehicle for <br /> the traveling playground is a terrific way for this program <br /> to reach out to more people in the community. It is <br /> attempted to host this program at locations with shelters, <br /> although this is not always the case. This program impact <br /> on the children is tremendous . Since there is no or limited <br /> special project fee all persons are free to visit a <br /> neighborhood park and partidipate in this program without <br /> being restricted by a fi.nantal limitations . This program <br /> can and does reach out to a 'IqWl1Citude of young people. <br /> Safety: <br /> All staff are required to attend ten hours of training <br /> before the first day of this proqram. The staff are <br /> instructed on how to handle diffei,*Dt situations from severe <br /> weather, problem child and even how to organize a large <br /> group. The Centennial Fire Department teaches the staff on <br /> basic first aid techniques and the police department <br /> instructs the staff on situations that may occur in a park. <br /> '~ All parks are supplied with a notebook detailing what <br />
