CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: April 12, 2021 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Public Safety Investigative Assistant <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Tanya Schaaf for the Public Safety <br />Investigative Assistant position. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />At this time, staff has completed the recruitment process for the Public Safety Investigative <br />Assistant, provided a conditional offer, and is recommending the approval of Tanya Schaaf for <br />the position. <br /> <br />The City received 66 applications and interviewed 14 candidates for the position. <br /> <br />Tanya Schaaf holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science and has over 3 <br />years of assistant experience at the Minnesota Department of Corrections. <br /> <br />The hourly rate would be $24.77, which is the starting rate of the AFSCME Labor Contract. The <br />job grade 140 has 6 steps in the wage schedule. <br /> <br />With the Council’s approval, Tanya would start in the position of Investigative Assistant on May <br />3, 2021. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Please approve the appointment of Tanya Schaaf to the Police Public Safety Investigative <br />Assistant position.
