CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 5A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED: <br />Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director <br />April 12, 2021 <br />Consider Resolution No. 21-32 Accepting Bids and Awarding <br />Construction Contract <br />3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Staff is requesting council’s consideration to accept bids and award a construction contract for <br />the development of four pickleball courts and two tennis courts at Birch Street and Centerville <br />Road. <br />BACKGROUND <br />On March 8, 2021, the City Council approved the plans and specifications and authorized the <br />Advertisement For Bids. Eight bids were received and opened on April 7, 2021 as shown <br />below: <br />CONTRACTOR TOTAL BASE BID <br />JACON LLC $326,345.56 <br />T. A. Schifsky & Sons Inc $392,465.26 <br />Bituminous Roadways $407,559.50 <br />A-1 Excavating Inc.$408,824.40 <br />Dunaway Construction $477,499.50 <br />Meyer Contracting Inc. $530,019.93 <br />Park Construction Company $541,828.68 <br />Urban Companies $609,359.50 <br />The low bid was submitted by Jacon LLC in the amount of $326,345.56 and is being <br />recommended for award. The engineer’s estimate was $432,550.13. <br />Funding has been identified through General Fund Balance Reserves via Resolution 18-175, <br />and designated Dedicated Parks Funding.
