Ms. Bartell indicated that the Administration 26 <br />Department receives the permit application, reviews the proposal for conformance to general 27 <br />regulations and then passes the proposal onto appropriate staff for further review for impacts to the 28 <br />City and safety concerns. In this case, the application was reviewed by the Public Safety 29 <br />Department and Director Swenson will report on their findings. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Public Safety Director Swenson reported on discussions with the event planners. There have been 32 <br />three meetings. There are implications and some concern about the bike ride route due to a detour 33 <br />of cars from Birch Street. At this time he feels there is an adequate plan in place for public safety 34 <br />considerations. He noted that there will inevitably be complaints about this situation and traffic 35 <br />related to the Birch Street detour. He reviewed the bike ride route (long and short). In providing 36 <br />public safety personnel along the route, they will be focusing specially on uncontrolled intersections. 37 <br />The staff that will be utilized are community service officers, on-duty officers and it probably one 38 <br />overtime officer (the cost of the overtime officer would be billed to MS organization). Anoka 39 <br />County has agreed to control the intersection of Hodgson and Ash. The plan is to do as little traffic 40 <br />control as possible – hopefully staying away from controlled intersection unless needed. He noted 41
