<br />Council during the May 3rd Council Work Session, staff prepared and sent a letter <br />to CFD dated May 6, 2021 that articulated the proposed costs associated with <br />providing daytime fire services in Circle Pines and Centerville. Staff from CFD <br />informed staff that CFD would not be moving forward with the Lino Lakes <br />Proposal. <br /> <br /> During the May 3rd Council Work Session staff provided information on the <br />research of the three options. <br /> <br />o contract with an outside vendor to provide daytime fire services – there are <br />no vendors operating in MN that provide municipalities fire services <br />o collaborate with another jurisdiction for daytime fire response – staff met <br />with surrounding jurisdictions and determined that further collaboration <br />beyond our current fire auto aid agreements is not viable at this time <br />o develop a daytime fire duty crew – staff provided information on a <br />daytime fire duty crew operating Monday through Friday 0600 hours to <br />1800 hours staffed with part-time firefighters <br /> <br />After receiving feedback from Council at the May 3rd Work Session staff has continued <br />to further develop a staffing plan for daytime fire duty crew. <br /> <br />As part of the 2022 Budget Request, staff will be requesting funding for a daytime fire <br />duty crew staffed with one fulltime Fire Lieutenant/Fire Inspector and three part-time <br />firefighters. The hours of operation for the part-time positions would be 0600 hours to <br />1800 hours Monday – Friday. The Fire Lieutenant/Fire Inspector will be a 40 hour work <br />week Monday through Friday with shift start and end times based on duty needs in <br />conjunction with the Fire Division Deputy Director position. <br /> <br />The Fire Lieutenant/Fire Inspector position description is currently being reviewed to <br />determine position compensation. <br /> <br />
