Many comments were received and several themes from those comments were identified. Those <br />themes are as follows: <br />1.General Support <br />Several comments were received giving general support for the project as well as comments <br />regarding the addition of more trails, creating loops within the community, providing <br />connections to neighborhoods and providing a variety in locations so those that use trails <br />regularly have options. <br />2.Safety <br />Many comments were received for additional trails to alleviate safety concerns at other various <br />locations throughout the area. The most notable are as follows: <br />a.Extend proposed trail to Wood Duck Trail or 4th Avenue <br />b.Sunset Avenue from Elm Street over 35W north to Main Street <br />c.Lake Drive between Elm Street and Main Street <br />d.Lilac Avenue from Sunset to Apollo Drive <br />e.Hodgson Avenue from Birch Street to Lake Drive and on to Centennial High School <br />f.4th Avenue <br />g.12th Avenue needs a safe crossing of Birch Street <br />h.More trail systems and sidewalks are needed. <br />i.A few comments were received that stated the current shoulders provide bicycle and <br />pedestrian accommodations and that focus should be on trails elsewhere in the area. <br />j.Overall more bike/walking paths to provide safe passages for all activities. <br />k.Many of the above locations were received in conjunction with respondents concerns about <br />the dangers of vehicles passing on the shoulders of roads that do not currently have bicycle <br />or pedestrian accommodations. These types of comments show there may be a need to <br />additional enforcement in these areas. <br />3.Access <br />There were many comments received suggesting other trail locations to increase access in the <br />region. The most notable are as follows: <br />a.Along Sunset Avenue, Main Street to Elm Street to increase access to schools and eliminate <br />35W as a barrier <br />b.All along CSAH 23/Lake Drive with specific mention for access to the YMCA, Target and <br />Waldoch Farms <br />c.Lilac Avenue <br />d.4th Avenue <br />e.Centerville Road to Birch Street <br />f.County Road J from 35W to 35E <br />g.Hodgson Road <br />h.YMCA to Wargo Nature Center <br />i.Access to and from High School <br />j.Finish trail along Main Street in Blaine <br />k.Kelly Street or Jane Avenue to James Street
