COUNCIL MINUTES <br />DRAFT <br />1 <br /> 1 <br />LINO LAKES CITY COUNCIL 2 <br />REGULAR MEETING 3 <br />MINUTES 4 <br /> 5 <br />DATE : July 13, 2020 6 <br />TIME STARTED : 6:32 p.m. 7 <br />TIME ENDED : 7:29 p.m. 8 <br />MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmember Stoesz, Lyden, 9 <br /> Ruhland, and Mayor Rafferty 10 <br />MEMBERS ABSENT : Councilmember Cavegn 11 <br /> 12 <br />Staff members present: City Administrator Sarah Cotton; Community Development Director 13 <br />Michael Grochala, City Planner Katie Larsen; Human Resources Manager Karissa Bartholomew; 14 <br />City Engineer Diane Hankee; Director of Public Safety John Swenson 15 <br /> 16 <br />PUBLIC COMMENT 17 <br />Sierra Rasmussen, Lino Lakes resident, beekeeper and fellow beekeepers were present and offered to 18 <br />the council a petition, which she read. The petition supports beekeeping in Lino Lakes including 19 <br />allowing beekeeping within more zoning districts. Councilmember Lyden noted that communication 20 <br />to residents on other ways they can help bees (i.e. less pesticides) could be helpful to the cause. 21 <br />Betty Mortenson, beekeeper in Ham Lake and treasurer of the local beekeeper’s association, 22 <br />explained the goal to get Minnesota bee friendly. They acknowledge the issues that concern people 23 <br />but feel they can be addressed by education. 24 <br />SETTING THE AGENDA 25 <br />The agenda was approved as presented. 26 <br />SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS 27 <br />Lino Lakes Ambassadors – the 2020 ambassadors spoke to the council on their activities. They 28 <br />noted that many activities were cancelled due to COVID 19 so they have agreed to continue for 29 <br />another year. 30 <br />American Legion Presentation of Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award to Tou Vang and 31 <br />Firefighter of the Year Award to Derek Sadowski. 32 <br />CONSENT AGENDA 33 <br />Councilmember Ruhland moved to approve the Consent Agenda, Items 1A through 1L as presented. 34 <br />Councilmember Lyden seconded the motion.
