CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 1B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />MEETING DATE: August 24, 2020 <br />TOPIC: Resolution No. 20-93, CARES Act Funding for Elections <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />Anoka County has received an allocation of $272,782.08 from the Office of the Secretary of <br />State (OSS), received through the 2020 CARES Act. These funds are to be distributed to <br />municipalities in the county to be used “to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, <br />domestically or internationally, for the 2020 Federal election cycle.” The City of Lino Lakes’ <br />allocation is $11,220.30. <br />BACKGROUND <br />City staff developed a plan to utilize this funding for the 2020 State Primary and General <br />Elections for the purchase of protective equipment (shields, PPE, signage) and for additional <br />election judges to assist with absentee voting and at polling places. Staff will also be bringing <br />forward to the council a request to increase election judge salary. <br />A formal grant agreement will be executed between Anoka County and the State of Minnesota <br />for these funds but it is also requested that the City formally acknowledge the fund allocation <br />plan. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Consider Approval o f Resolution No. 20 -93, Acknowledging Allocation from Anoka County of <br />Cares Act Election Grant Funds <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution No. 20-93 <br />State of Minnesota 2020 CARES Act Grant Agreement
