CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: January 24, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Fire Lieutenant/Fire Inspector <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Brian Finke for the Fire Lieutenant/ <br />Fire Inspector position in the Public Safety Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Finke has worked for the City since June of 2015. He brings with him over seven years of <br />firefighting experience, over six years of building inspector experience and six years of fire <br />inspector experience. <br />Finke has an Associate's degree in Public Safety from Century College. He is currently enrolled <br />at Columbia Southern University in the Fire Administration program working towards a <br />Bachelor's degree. <br />Finke has proven his ability to perform for the City and comes highly recommended. <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $43.48, which is Step 6 of a 9 step wage scale. With the <br />Council's approval, Finke would start in the position on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the appointment of Brian Finke for the Fire Lieutenant/Fire Inspector position. <br />
