CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br /> APPROVED <br /> 46 some research since it goes back to the original development. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 The council discussed the matter of traffic and it was acknowledged that the trips <br /> 49 generated by this business will be minimal. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 The mayor said he thinks this will be a nice project. <br /> 52 <br /> 53 Councilmember Lyden asked if there are ever conversations with existing businesses <br /> 54 about opportunities to expand/move. Staff explained that the conversations do occur but <br /> 55 it comes down to dollars and what makes the most sense for the business. <br /> 56 <br /> 57 2. Annual Appointments -City Administrator Cotton noted that the council is <br /> 58 expected to establish its list of appointments at the next council meeting. In preparation <br /> 59 staff has provided a list of the 2021 appointments. <br /> 60 <br /> 61 Council comments: <br /> 62 • At what size(population) does it make sense for the City to have in-house <br /> 63 assessor services; <br /> 64 • Councilmember Ruhland would like to understand how many homes are actually <br /> 65 visited for assessment purposes each year; <br /> 66 • Staff confirmed that Redpath& Company remains the staff recommendation for <br /> 67 auditing services; <br /> 68 • Councilmember Lyden asks for a conversation about fire services (metrics <br /> 69 review); what are the City costs and projected costs for fire services and some <br /> 70 type of comparison(other communities,per resident); are there viable <br /> 71 collaboration options; Administrator Cotton suggested that there are standards in <br /> 72 place to review fire services and costs so staff can put together some information; <br /> 73 • What does the Anoka County Fire Protection Council do; Public Safety Director <br /> 74 Swenson explained that it's existed for some time but was formalized through a <br /> 75 joint powers agreement in order to meet developing needs in the area of fire <br /> 76 protection, i.e. fire records management responsibility and provide fire training <br /> 77 oversight; <br /> 78 <br /> 79 The following designations were made in regard to the Annual Appointments. <br /> 80 <br /> 2021 2022 <br /> 1.
