CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3E <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: February 14, 2022 <br />TOPIC: Consider Appointment of Police Officer <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Matthew Reineke to a vacant Police <br />Officer position in the Public Safety Department. <br />BACKGROUND <br />There is currently one vacant Police Officer positions within the Public Safety Department. At <br />this time, staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Matthew Reineke for the position. <br />Reineke has an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement from Century College and Bachelor's <br />Degree in Environment Science from St. Thomas University. He has met all POST mandates. <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $36.66 which is the Starting wage of the union wage schedule. <br />The wage schedule has six steps. <br />With the Council's approval, Reineke would start in the position of Police Officer on February <br />28, 2022. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the appointment of Matthew Reineke for the Police Officer position. <br />
