Enivornmental Board <br />August 30, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />APPROVED MINUTES <br />Open Mike closed at 6:35 p.m. <br /> <br />7. ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />There were no Action Items <br /> <br />8. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br /> <br />A. Distribution Alternatives Completed Project Discussion <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson will look into the Conservation Easement Plan. There should be signs in <br />place and he will also look into the seeding of the buffer area <br /> <br />Mr. Heiskary mentioned that the holding ponds are doing what they were meant to do <br /> <br />Mr. Heiskary was wondering if in order to get variation of landscape material it <br />would help taking pictures of some of the different species of trees that we are trying <br />to promate, at different stages of its growth, and show a developer what the trees <br />would look like in a few years. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson felt that the developer’s landscape engineer should be aware of the <br />different species of landscape material <br /> <br />Ms. Holmes was wondering what is the process of a development plan before it <br />comes to our board for review. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated that when a developer comes in with a plan, it has to meet concept <br />plan requirements and other qualifications. It goes through a screening process and is <br />checked over by the city planner before it is presented to any of the boards. The <br />recommendations are given to the city planner, and then it goes to Planning & <br />Zoning, before it goes to the City Council. <br /> <br />B. Blue Heron Days Event Summary Discussion <br /> <br />A good number of volunteers (thanks Nancie) showed up to help with the clean up <br />after the parade. <br /> <br />C. Textiles Recycling Status Update and Gerneral Recycling Updates <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson stated that the Simple Recycling is still in process. It will be the fourth <br />item on the work session agenda on September 4. <br /> <br />Simple Recycling will pay the City $20 a ton and it will receive the tonnage report. <br />Mr. Heiskary suggested that Ms. Pelon should contact other cities using Simple <br />Recycling and see how it is going before the council work session.
