Enivornmental Board <br />August 30, 2017 <br />Page 3 <br />APPROVED MINUTES <br />Ms. Pelon said she had already contacted some of the cities that are doing business <br />with Simple Recycling and there are pluses and minuses. However, it seems that the <br />Simple Recycling was able to satisfy the residents’ concerns. <br /> <br />Talk then started with Organics questions and Ms. Pelon will look into haulers that <br />are interested in curbside pickup and see how other cities are handling organics <br />recycling <br /> <br />D. Wollan’s Park Wetland Bank Update <br /> <br />Corps of Engineers vs Bureau of Soil and Water Resouces- there is still a difference <br />in the number of the acreage. The city now has 70% banking credit on that area. <br /> <br />E. Up Coming Speakers and Agenda Items <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson will try to get Matt Kocian from Rice Creek Watershed District to come <br />and report on the carp electronic traps under the bridge at highway 49. The traps are <br />to keep the carp from coming up stream to spawn. May have him to talk about the <br />Peltier Lake draw down <br /> <br />Jason Hochins will present his talk of a drone fly over of Wollan’s Park in October. <br /> <br />Mr. Heiskary want to know where we were on the wetland areas that were discussed <br />at the last meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Asleson said that the areas are still being researched and will come back to us. <br /> <br />Ms. Kaufenberg would like to focus on more education to the residents next spring <br />on items such as watering lawns, grass clippings in the street,and native plantings <br />suggestions. Also to reach out to the organics participants and keep them informed <br />about organics curbside recycling. <br /> <br />Ms. Holmes would like to hear from Rice Creek Watershed District on a <br />informational talk for shoreland residents on the impact they have on the quality of <br />the lakes. <br /> <br />Mr. Heiskary would like to convey educational messages to the public. <br /> <br />F. Comprehensive Plan <br /> <br /> Comprehensive Plan update will come back to us in September <br /> <br />9. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Ms. Andrzejewski made a MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 7:39 p.m. Ms. Kaufenberg <br />seconded motion. Motion carried 6 - 0
