The focus is on maintenance activities, lawn <br />and grounds care, chemical storage, and spill prevention. <br /> <br />Some of the 2013 SWPPP highlights were that the staff attended winter and turf grass <br />workshops and completed voluntary certification. Also partnered with the City of Lino <br />Lakes on use of salt brine to pretreat their parking lots and walkways. <br /> <br />Minnesota Correctional Facility of Lino Lakes is preventing stormwater pollution by: <br /> <br />• Keeping parking and storage areas clean <br />• Maintaining BMPs for lawn and grounds care and snow removal <br />• Inspecting /cleaning storm drain inlets <br />• Performing pond/ditch maintenance as needed <br />• Providing employee and offender training on stormwater management <br />including spill prevention <br /> <br />The Lino Lakes Correctional Facility goals for 2014 SWPPP are the following: <br /> <br />• Conduct on-going training sessions on pollution prevention <br />• Distribute educational materials to staff, offenders and visitors about <br />facility SWPPP <br />• Post additional signage prohibiting dumping on grounds or into storm <br />drains <br />• Inform outside contractors of facility IDDE program requirements <br />• Add rain barrels to reduce lawn and flower garden watering <br />• Reduce herbicide application by having offenders manually remove weeds <br />in non-secured areas <br />• Evaluate the effectiveness of sand/salt reduction efforts using brine <br />solution. Compare sand/salt use from year 1 and 2 <br /> <br />Ms. Morin inquired about what is done with the food waste and was informed that the <br />food waste is picked up by a pig farmer. <br /> <br /> <br />Mr. Greg Beckius from WSB & Associates presented the City of Lino Lakes portion of <br />the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan. <br /> <br />In 2013 the City of Lino Lakes has done the following for the SWPP program: <br /> <br />• Public education and outreach with the city’s website, newsletter articles <br />and Earth Day activities <br />• GIS mapping updates <br />• The city continues to educate violators of illicit discharge ordinance <br />• Inspect construction sites for the implementation of erosion and sediment <br />control practices and monitor post construction
