Motion carried. <br />Mr. McDonald appeared in connection with the radio tower to be <br />located on Birch Street on the Amelia Rehbein property. Mr. <br />McLean read a letter from Ir. Gotwald stating there was in- <br />sufficient information to make a decision on this proposal. He <br />would need plat plans. Mr. ticLean read a letter the Clerk had <br />received from Mr. Hugo Jorgenson which included a request for <br />free service for the Village and two meter amateur radio re- <br />peater groups. <br />Mr. McDonald said this would be a two -way receiving and sending <br />tower with a range of about 25 mile circle. <br />Mr. Hill asked about the poorer watage. Mr. McDonald d said the <br />out -put would be about the same as a 40 watt light bulb. This <br />is an UHF from 450 to 470 MHz. The service road would be of <br />class 5 gravel just for the use of an econoline van used to ser- <br />vice the tower. ;fir. McDonald was questioned on the 225' set- <br />back from the center line of Birch Street. He said he choose that <br />spot from the results of soil test. This proved to have the <br />necessary soil for a stabel base for the tower. The Board was <br />concerned about the tower blocking the roadway it it should ever <br />topple. The tower would be set on a cement base and have several <br />layers of guy wires. This sort of construction does not topple <br />over they sort of collapse within the guy wires. <br />Mr. McDonald gave the Clerk a cony of the permit issued by the <br />FAA. This permit is in effect until 3rtember of 1973, for the <br />construction of this tower. <br />Mr. Gordon Mi k leson of ;!CCO was in the audience. He said there <br />was some problems in connections with the property owned by that <br />station and located South of this site. But he felt that they <br />were things that could be resolved. He also said that this sort <br />of a tower does not topple that it w i l l fall within the guy wires. <br />They want to know more about the plans and whit landscaping is <br />planned for this site. He has some date that he will submit to <br />Mr. Gotwald before the next meeting. <br />A lady from the audience asked who this company is and whet they do. <br />Mr. i•-1cDonal d said he is the company and he builds and manages two <br />way radio towers. She asked what plans he had for the remaining <br />land. Ir. McDoeald said that they only had use for 10 acres but <br />the owners do not want to break up the forty acres so they <br />bought the entire piece and at the present time they have no <br />
