After meeting with Custom Fire, the Committee has developed a specification that meets our
needs and complies with Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing. This will allow the City the
advantages of purchasing through a cooperative purchasing agreement to capitalize on group
purchasing power. This will help us even with these difficult times of supply chain issues to
secure the best pricing possible.
The next step in the process would be to secure a contract with Custom Fire. Custom Fire has
been working with the chassis builder Spartan Motors of Charlotte, Michigan to secure a firm
price. If we enter into a contract in the August of 2022, to purchase two Spartan/Custom Fire
pumper/tenders from Custom Fire, we could expect delivery of the chassis to Custom Fire in
mid-2023. The fire truck body would then be built by Custom Fire with delivery to the City of
Lino Lakes in 3rd quarter of 2023. The process would start in May of 2022 and be delivered in
third quarter of 2023. This will be close to 12 months in duration. Custom fire was able to work
with Spartan Motors to shorten the time line to maintain pricing.
It is my recommendation, along with the apparatus design committee, to sign an agreement with
Custom Fire to purchase two pumper / tenders with anticipated delivery of both apparatus in 3rd
quarter of 2023.
ONE VISION.
