Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. <br />When the auxiliary brake is engaged, the transmission shall automatically shift to second gear to decrease <br />the rate of speed assisting the secondary braking system and slowing the vehicle. <br />TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM <br />The transmission shall include a water to oil cooler system located in the cooling loop between the <br />radiator and the engine. The transmission cooling system shall meet all transmission manufacturer <br />requirements. The transmission cooling system shall feature continuous flow of engine bypass water to <br />maintain uninterrupted transmission cooling. <br />TRANSMISSION DRAIN PLUG <br />The transmission shall include an original equipment manufacturer installed magnetic transmission fluid <br />drain plug. <br />TRANSMISSION WARRANTY <br />The Allison EVS series transmission shall be warranted for a period of five (5) years with unlimited <br />mileage. Parts and labor shall be included in the warranty. <br />PTO LOCATION <br />The transmission shall have two (2) power take off (PTO) mounting locations, one (1) in the 8:00 o'clock <br />position and one (1) in the 1:00 o'clock position. <br />All drivelines shall be heavy duty metal tube and equipped with MSI 1810 series universal joints for the <br />main drivelines, and 1710 series for the inter -axle shaft. The shafts shall be dynamically balanced prior <br />to installation to alleviate future vibration. In areas of the driveline where a slip shaft is required, the <br />splined slip joint shall be coated with Glide Coat®. The drivelines shall include Meritor brand a joints <br />with thrust washers. <br />MIDSHIP PUMP / GEARBOX <br />A temporary jackshaft driveline shall be installed by the chassis manufacturer to accommodate the <br />mid -ship split shaft pump as specified by the apparatus manufacturer. <br />MIDSHIP PUMP / GEARBOX MODEL <br />The midship pump/gearbox provisions shall be for a Waterous CSUC20 pump. <br />MIDSHIP PUMP GEARBOX DROP <br />The Waterous pump gearbox shall have a `B" (short) drop length. <br />MIDSHIP PUMP RATIO <br />The ratio for the midship pump shall be 2.27:1. <br />MIDSHIP PUMP LOCATION C/L SUCTION TO C/L REAR AXLE <br />The midship pump shall be located so the dimension from the centerline of the suction to the centerline <br />of the rear axle is 110.00 inches. <br />07/26/22 <br />-22- <br />
