Custom Fire Apparatus, Inc. <br />FUEL FILTER/WATER SEPARATOR <br />The fuel system shall have a Racor GreenMAX 6600R fuel filter/water separator as a primary filter. The <br />fuel filter shall have a drain valve and a see -through cover to allow visual inspection of fuel and filter <br />condition. The Racor 6600R shall meet engine requirements for particulate size, collection capacity, <br />removal efficiency, and water removal efficiency. The filter shall be capable of handling a maximum <br />flow rate of 150 gallons per hour. <br />A secondary fuel filter shall be included as approved by the engine manufacturer. <br />An instrument panel lamp and audible alarm which indicates when water is present in the fuel -water <br />separator shall also be included. <br />FUEL LINES <br />The fuel system supply and return lines installed from the fuel tank to the engine shall be black textile <br />braided lines which are reinforced with braided high tensile steel wire. The fuel lines shall be connected <br />with reusable steel fittings. <br />FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE <br />A fuel shutoff valve shall be installed in the fuel draw line at the primary fuel filter to allow the fuel filter <br />to be changed without loss of fuel to the fuel pump. <br />A second fuel shutoff valve shall be installed in the fuel draw line, near the fuel tank to allow <br />maintenance to be performed with minimal loss of fuel. <br />ELECTRIC FUEL PRIMER <br />Integral to the engine assembly is an electric lift pump that serves the purpose of pre -filter fuel priming. <br />FUEL COOLER <br />An aluminum cross flow air to fuel cooler shall be provided to lower fuel temperature allowing the <br />vehicle to operate at higher ambient temperatures. The fuel cooler shall be located behind the rear axle. <br />FUEL TANK <br />The fuel tank shall have a capacity of fifty (50) gallons and shall measure 35.00 inches in width X 15.00 <br />inches in height X 24.00 inches in length. <br />The baffled tank shall have a vent port to facilitate venting to the top of the fill neck for rapid filling <br />without "blow -back" and a roll over ball check vent for temperature related fuel expansion and draw. <br />The tank is designed with dual draw tubes and sender flanges. The tank shall have 2.00 inch NPT fill <br />ports for right or left hand fill. A 0.50 inch NPT drain plug shall be centered in the bottom of the tank. <br />The fuel tank shall be mounted below the frame, behind the rear axle. Two (2) three-piece strap hanger <br />assemblies with "U" straps bolted midway on the fuel tank front and rear shall be utilized to allow the <br />tank to be easily lowered and removed for service purposes.
