EXAMPLE AWARD NOMINATION I WEST WATER TREATMENT PLANT
WATER TREATMENT PLANT IS WELL -RECEIVED BY COMMUNITY
IM
vs. W
During the design phase, four neighborhood meetings
were held at the Chanhassen Library to discuss the
residents' concerns and provide updates on the project.
Several display boards were presented to show virtual
architectural renderings of the proposed treatment
plant building, plans to protect nearby wetlands, a traffic
control plan, water treatment processes, and the project
schedule. In addition, questionnaire/comment cards
were handed out at each meeting as another method of
feedback for the City and design team to consider.
The plant's prairie-themed architecture, hillside
construction, and adjacent playground provide a
unique aesthetic in the residential development. Sound
attenuation devices were installed on the HVAC exhaust
systems to dampen the noise of the ventilation systems
for nearby neighbors. Additional chlorine gas sensors,
alarming devices, and chlorine cylinder shutoff valves
were also installed to ensure the chlorine gas would
remain in the facility and not become a potential hazard to
the community.
3
A Proposal for Design, Bidding, and Construction Administration for a
Water Treatment Plant for City of Lino Lakes
Appendix 145
