West Water Treatment Plant
CLIENT: CITY OF CHANHASSEN
LOCATION: CHANHASSEN, MN
DURATION: 2016 - 2018
WSB provided professional engineering services for
the design and construction of a 9 million gallon
per day water treatment plant. The West Plant was
constructed at the south end of Manchester Road
near the intersection of Lake Harrison Road and
Galpin Boulevard.After WSB conducted multiple
neighborhood meetings and received public input, the
plant was designed with a prairie themed architecture
and landscaping to fit into a residential neighborhood.
Based on pilot plant testing and initial evaluations,
the plant was designed to treat iron, manganese, and
natural ammonia with pressure aeration, detention,
concrete gravity filters,and breakpoint chlorination.
The plant also includes a below grade clearwell, filter
backwash tanks, and a backwash reclaim system.
Chemical feed systems were designed for oxidation
of iron and manganese,fluoridation, disinfection,and
phosphate feed.
The disinfection system was designed for the use of
gas chlorine with 1-ton storage cylinders.A stormwater
reuse system allows the city to recycle stormwater on
site and use it for irrigating the landscaping around the
plant and the adjacent boulevards located along Lake
Harrison Road. KEY WSB STAFF: GREG JOHNSON, GREG GLUNZ
This project included raw water mains constructed from
the west well field to the treatment plant in preparation
of the outlot located north of the treatment plant site for
a future neighborhood park.
A Proposal for Design,Bidding, and Construction Administration for a
Water Treatment Plant for City of Lino Lakes Relative Experience,Qualifications,&References 125
