playground equipment, electric utilities, or any other similar structure not covering or enclosing a <br />specific area. <br />BUILDING, PRINCIPAL. A building in which is conducted the principal use of the lot on <br />which it is located. <br />BUSINESS. Any establishment, occupation, employment or enterprise where merchandise <br />is manufactured, exhibited or sold or where services are offered for compensation. <br />CANOPY. An accessory roof -like structure, which is either attached to or detached from an <br />allowable primary building; which is open on all sides, other than where attached; and which is <br />located over and designed to provide cover for entrances, exits, walkways, and approved off-street <br />motor vehicle service areas. <br />CARPORT. A permanently constructed motor vehicle shelter having one (1) or more sides <br />open. <br />CERTIFICATE OF SURVEY. A land survey prepared by a land surveyor registered in the <br />State of Minnesota with a certification that the information on the land survey is accurate. <br />CHANNEL. A natural or artificial depression of perceptible extent, with definite bed and <br />banks to confine and conduct water either continuously or periodically. <br />CHURCH. A building, together with its accessory buildings and use, where persons <br />regularly assemble for religious worship and which building, together with its accessory buildings <br />and uses, is maintained and controlled by a religious body organized to sustain public worship. <br />CITY COUNCIL. The governing body for the City of Lino Lakes. <br />CLUB OR LODGE. A non-profit association of persons who are members paying annual <br />dues, use of premises being restricted to members and their guests. <br />CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT. A form of residential development that groups buildings or <br />lots to provide common open space. <br />COMMERCIAL USE. The principal use of land or buildings for the sale, lease, rental or <br />trade of products, goods and services. <br />COMMUNITY GARDEN. A facility on public land for cultivation of fruits, flowers, <br />vegetables, or ornamental plants by more than one (1) person or family. <br />COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. A Comprehensive Plan prepared and approved by the City, <br />including a compilation of policy statements, goals, standards, fiscal guidelines, and maps <br />indicating the general locations recommended for the various functional classes of land use, places <br />and structures, and for the general physical development of the City, including any unit or part of <br />such plan separately adopted and any amendment to such plan or parts thereof. <br />15 <br />
