CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 6D <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Diane Hankee, PE City Engineer <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: October 24, 2022 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 22-131, Requesting Anoka County <br />Conduct a Speed Study on County State Aid Highway 34 <br />(Birch Street) <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />Staff is requesting Council approve the resolution to request that Anoka County conduct a speed <br />study on County State Aid Highway 34 (Birch Street) from County State Aid Highway 49 <br />(Hodgson Road) to Old Birch Street. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Anoka County reconstructed Birch Street from Hokah Drive to Birch Court in 2021. As part of the <br />process, and after construction, it is recommended to complete a speed study especially with the <br />installation of roundabouts. Staff recently discussed a speed study for this location with Anoka <br />County staff and they supported and encouraged the study. In addition, staff has received a couple <br />phone calls with concerns over the speeds in portions of this corridor. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff is recommending approval of Resolution No. 22-131, Requesting Anoka County Conduct a <br />Speed Study on County State Aid Highway 34 (Birch Street). <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />1.
