6 <br /> <br />• Standards have been included for maintenance, management and replacement of <br />community septic systems. <br />• Open space is now required to include a minimum of 25 percent upland area. <br />• Residential lots must be large enough to support a primary and secondary septic system. <br />• Included cluster development definition and added number of units required to be <br />considered a cluster. <br /> <br />Liquor Standards <br /> <br />The current ordinance allows brewer taprooms accessory to a malt liquor beverage production <br />and bottling facility in the Light Industrial (LI) and General Industrial (GI). <br /> <br />We have updated the General Business (GB), Light Industrial (LI) and General Industrial (GI) <br />districts to include a broader range of uses related to alcoholic beverages such as, brew pub, <br />brewer taproom, microbrewery/small brewer, microdistillery/small distillery and winery/cider <br />mill (which includes meadery). The uses are defined as: <br /> <br />Brew Pub - A restaurant that conducts the retail sale of malt liquor brewed on the premise <br />and licensed under Minnesota Statute section 340A.301, subdivision 6(d). Areas used <br />exclusively for brewing operations shall not exceed 25 percent of the total floor area. <br />Included within this use is the off-sale of malt liquor produced on site in refillable <br />growlers pursuant to Minnesota Statutes section 340A.301, subdivision 7(b). (No change <br />from existing ordinance) <br /> <br />Brewer Taproom - Facility on the premises of, or adjacent to, a malt liquor beverage <br />production facility / brewery intended for the on-sale and consumption of malt liquor <br />produced by the brewer pursuant to Minnesota Statute section 340A.301, subdivision 6b. <br />A brewer taproom may include a restaurant. (No change from existing ordinance) <br /> <br />Microdistilleries - is a distillery operated within the state producing premium, distilled <br />spirits in total quantity not to exceed 40,000 proof gallons in a calendar year, which <br />distillery is licensed under Minnesota Statutes section 340A. (New definition) <br /> <br />Small Brewer - is a brewer licensed under section Minnesota Statutes section 340A.301, <br />Subdivision 6, clause (c), (i), or (j) who also holds a retail license to sell off-sale malt <br />liquor at its licensed premises which has been produced and packaged by the brewer. <br />(New definition) <br /> <br />Winery – a place that makes wine through the fermentation of grapes. This includes <br />sparkling wine, vermouth, cider, mead, perry and sake. (New definition) <br /> <br />Tasting Room - an area used for accessory alcoholic beverage retail consumption on the <br />premises where the alcoholic beverages are produced.
