CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br /> APPROVED <br /> LINO LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> 2 WORK SESSION <br /> 3 MINUTES <br /> 4 <br /> 5 DATE : March 13, 2023 <br /> 6 TIME STARTED : 6:00 p.m. <br /> 7 TIME ENDED : 6:20 p.m. <br /> 8 MEMBERS PRESENT : Councilmember Stoesz, Lyden, Ruhland, Cavegn, <br /> 9 Mayor Rafferty <br /> 10 MEMBERS ABSENT : None. <br /> 11 Staff members present: City Administrator Sarah Cotton; Community Development Director <br /> 12 Michael Grochala; City Engineer Diane Hankee; Human Resources and Communications <br /> 13 Manager Meg Sawyer; Director of Public Safety John Swenson; City Planner Katie Larsen. <br /> 14 1. Review Regular Council Agenda of March 13, 2023 <br /> 15 Consent Agenda - <br /> 16 Item 1G— Consider Approval of the Hiring of Part-Time Staff for The Rookery— Mayor <br /> 17 Rafferty asked for more information and whether things are going well and whether this is a <br /> 18 seasonal type of hire. Human Resources and Communcations Manager Sawyer noted the <br /> 19 positions before the City Council this evening are typical due to turnover such as adding <br /> 20 lifeguards, instructors, and part-time workers. <br /> 21 Regular Agenda - <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Item 1 —Consider Appointment of Part-time Firefighter- Human Resources and <br /> 24 Communications Manager Sawyer shared about the position noting it would be at Fire Station#1 <br /> 25 and starting on April 3, 2023. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Item 2 —Consider Appointment of Paid On-Call Firefighter—Ms. Sawyer noted this position <br /> 28 would get the City to nine firefighters at Station#1 and ten at Station#2. The start date will be <br /> 29 on March 20, 2023 and the goal for the City is to have 20 firefighters at each station. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Item 3—Consider Appointment of Custodial Worker—Ms. Sawyer shared about the position <br /> 32 noting it encompasses cleaning City Hall and both Fire stations. With City Council approval, the <br /> 33 worker would start on March 14, 2023. Councilmember Stoesz asked whether there will be start- <br /> 34 up costs including vacuums and equipment. City Administrator Cotton replied in the affirmative <br /> 35 noting an estimate was provided in a previous Staff report for some of that equipment for the <br /> 36 various sites. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Item 4—Consider Appointment of City Clerk—Ms. Sawyer noted Jolleen Chaika will be <br /> 39 starting in the position on April 3, 2023. She comes to the City with a vast amount of experience <br /> 40 including Deputy City Clerk at Forest Lake. <br /> 41 <br /> 1 <br />
