CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Meg Sawyer, Human Resources and Communications Manager <br />MEETING DATE: May 8, 2023 <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Community Service Officer <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />INTRODUCTION <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Adam Crowl for the vacant <br />Community Service Officer position. <br />BACKGROUND <br />There is currently a Community Service Officer vacancy within the Public Safety Department. <br />At this time, staff has completed the recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is <br />recommending the approval of Adam Crowl for the position. <br />Crowl is working towards a degree in law enforcement and is currently volunteering in the <br />reserve program with the City of Lino Lakes. <br />The hourly rate would be $23.88, which is the starting rate of the AFSCME Labor Contract. The <br />wage schedule has six steps. <br />With the Council’s approval, Crowl would start in the position of Community Service Officer on <br />May 15, 2023. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Please approve the appointment of Adam Crowl to the Community Service Officer position.
